Announcing the COMBINED Muir/PHS Class of 1955 High School 50th Reunion.

This is NOT going to  be "just another High School reunion".  This reunion  is shaping up to be what will probably be the largest, longest and most historic High School reunion ever staged ANYWHERE,  EVER, in the entire United States!!!

Largest, because we are (for the very first time), combining with PHS!!  That means that all your Jr. High School buddies that went to PHS instead of Muir, will be there!!!  Largest, because it is also going to be a 52 year reunion of our Jr High Schools - La Caņada, Eliot, Marshall, McKinley, Temple City, Washington and Wilson!!!  Largest, because it is NOT limited to JUST the "Graduates" of those schools, but is open to all our "Classmates", even if they moved away before graduation, went to other High Schools, joined the service - or whatever - ALL classmates from the Pasadena Unified School District Junior High Schools Class of '53 and the High Schools Class of '55 are invited. It's going be so big, we are holding our reception at the Rose Bowl!!!!!  The same place we were all together as one big group when we graduated in 1955!!!

Longest, because not only are we having a reception (Bar-B-Q Dinner) on Friday night, but we are kicking the whole event off with a Golf Tourney and Luncheon at Brookside Park Thursday, August 18th. The Brookside Trophy luncheon is for golfers and non-golfers (yep, the luncheon is open to EVERYBODY!!!).  Longest, because we are going to have neat things to do for spouses, like tours of JPL, the Muir (and PHS) campuses, the Huntington Library, etc.  Longest, because we are having our formal dinner (Dress-Up) at the Huntington Hotel (now owned and restored to its full glory by the Ritz Carlton).  Longest, because on Sunday, we are having a brunch at the old Wrigley Mansion on Orange Grove Blvd., complete with special (now known as the "Tournament House").   Longest, because we are including a 5-day, 4-nite cruise on Royal Caribbean's "Monarch of the Seas"  luxury cruise liner (880 feet long - appointed like a Four Seasons Hotel), to Catalina, San Diego, and Baja California, complete with 6 meals a day, casino, and full blown Broadway shows!!!  Did you count how many days that adds up to??

Historic, because we are the FIRST class to graduate from the then newly created John Muir HIGH SCHOOL (remember, in 11th grade, we were Freshmen in the last year of John Muir Junior College?).  Excitement is already building throughout the entire city of Pasadena for this event.  We've ALREADY has articles in the Pasadena Star News about this momentous occasion!!!!

We at John Muir, basically did a "dress rehearsal" for this upcoming 50 year reunion 4 years ago with our last reunion - all designed to "get it right" for the big "5 Ohh".  Guess what?  After the 46th reunion, that committee, along with the PHS reunion committee, have spent the last few years putting this 50 combined reunion together; we never stopped meeting!!  Yep, 90 days after that last reunion, we just kept meeting to review what worked, what did not (The Hilton Hotel was not a good venue), and it was at that time we decided to do combine our 50 reunion with PHS class of 1955. Their committee started meeting with us almost immediately thereafter!!!  We have an additional 3 years of planning, working, anticipating, under our collective belts now!!

This is going to be sooo super!!  Plenty of time to renew old acquaintances, and make lots of NEW ones as well!!!  The Original Rhythm Kings are already practicing, and are going to play for us again both at the reception in the Rose Bowl and again at the Ritz Carlton banquet - one more time!!!   There will be so many things - music, dancing, memorabilia to take us all back to those special "Happy Days"...days where we were lucky enough to be a part of - and NOBODY is going to want to miss this one!!!!

You will be able to find EVERYBODY you would like to see.  Why and how?  Because we are asking EVERYBODY to bring their cell phones and register them at the sign in booths!!  You will be able to see everybody else's cell phone number and they will be able to see yours.  Looking for somebody in particular?   Ha!!  Phone them!!  They could be standing right behind you, but you wouldn't recognize them after so many years!!!!

The  combined John Muir and Pasadena High Schools Classes of 1955 reunion August 18, 19, 20 and 21, 2005. SAVE THOSE DATES! Click here for details.

Our own Rhythm Kings are the feature entertainment at the Friday Night Reception
at the Rose Bowl and the Saturday Night Ritz Carlton Banquet

Can you name the members of the "famous" Rhythm Kings?
